Fire doorset ironmongery -
 How to remain compliant

Proven Fire Performance

All items of ironmongery are critical to a fire doorset's performance. Even the addition of a small item can dramatically impact performance in an emergency.  Door closers, hinges, locks and latches must be CE marked (where applicable) to comply with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).

In addition to these core essentials, a fire doorset often needs a variety of other components including handles, intumescent seals, smoke seals, letter plate or air transfer grilles.

How to remain compliant

All items of ironmongery are critical to the performance of the fire doorset. A small change can have an enormous impact in an emergency. Door-Stop have tested all elements of ironmongery and the certificate and data sheet contain the allowed specification including intumescent protection and fixing specification.

If throughout the life of the doorset a component replacement is required, it is critical that the components exactly match those listed on the relevant fire certificates and data sheet for the specific doorset. Changing specification of any components will invalidate product certification, warranties and may present safety and performance risk . Any maintenance works should be carried out by a competent person, documented, and kept as part of the building record and fire door register.
