Fire Doorset - Standard & Regulations

A fire doorset must be tested before it goes to market to prove that it performs in line with safety regulations and standards. It is best practice to also have the product third party certificated by an independent third party, so that the design and controlled manufacturing processes can be independently verified. Door-Stop fire doorsets are certificated by Warringtonfire under the following certificate numbers:

  • Certifire CF 5906 (Certificated for Fire)
  • Certisecure CS 5112 / Certifire CF 5863 (Certificated for Security and Fire)

Door-Stop fire doorsets are tested to BS 476: Part22 or BS EN 1634-1:2014 and third party certificated by Certifire (Warringtonfire) as FD30 doorsets. Door-Stop fire doorsets are certificated for 30 minutes fire integrity and only suitable for use when fire insulation is required if the doorset has less than 20% of un-insulating glass, including any toplight.

It is essential that fire doorset is then installed in accordance with the certification and manufacturer's guidance and maintained throughout its life service. It is only by doing this that the doorset will meet its performance standards and be ready to perform in everyday use, and in an emergency. Door-Stop fire doorsets must be installed strictly in accordance with the certificate, data sheet and the installation instructions to achieve FD30 performance. Failure to adequately install the doorset will result in a failure to meet certification and/or invalidate the warranties. The installation guide includes installation instructions, information on the type of components required and the level of competence required for the installation and inspection of the doorset. It is critical that you read, understand and follow the instructions in full to avoid invalidating the certification and/or product warranties.

All fire doors should have a traceability mark on the edge of the door leaf to ensure a permanent link back to the certification so that the building specifier, designer, owner, manager or resident can reference it at any time. Traceability labels on the doorset provide a critical traceability link from the specific doorset back to the manufacturer and relevant certification throughout the life service of a product.

Transparency of Certification

All certification should be available so that the building specifier, owner, manager or resident can view it at any time. The certificate lists the primary test evidence reports upon which the certification is based.

Doorset Labels

For all buildings, fire doors should also be supplied with traceability markings such as labels in place that references key information such as the manufacturer's name, the specific certificate and data sheet relating to the doorset. The unique traceability number of the label provides traceability to the manufacturing processes, raw materials and components that relate to the specific doorset.

Labels must not be damaged or removed. Removal of the labels will result in a failure to meet the certification and therefore invalidate the warranties. Labels cannot be replaced without an on-site inspection of the product by a Door-Stop representative.
